Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about accounts, record storage, automatic generation, reflection, and plans.
Account
Yes. Your data is on GitHub, so you can continue where you left off simply by signing in to GitHub on a new device.
Records & storage
All records are stored as Markdown in a private repository in your own GitHub account. Effica Grove's servers do not store the contents of your records. You can check the storage repository name in Settings > System.
No. The authoritative copy of your records lives in your own GitHub repository, so it remains there as Markdown files after you cancel.
Yes. Records are private by default, but you can invite someone from Settings > Invitations so that only they can view them.
We may temporarily reference records while processing automatic reports, but we do not store the authoritative copy on our servers.
Automatic generation & editing
Weekly reports are generated every Monday, monthly reports on the first day of each month, quarterly reports on the first day of each quarter, and annual reports every January as drafts (Open).
You can edit a report any time between generation and confirmation. Once confirmed (Closed), it becomes view-only.
Yes. Reports are generated from only the days with records; they do not fill in blank days.
Reflection
Yes. Reflection helps you find clues for becoming a little better than you were yesterday. Putting successes and setbacks into words leaves learnings you can apply next time and makes repeating the same mistakes less likely. As small daily records accumulate, your growth and changes become clearer over the months. Writing with a framework that suits your goal makes reflection even more effective. Learn more in the reflection framework guide.
Start with three lines: what you did, what you learned, and what you will do next (YWT). If you are unsure what to write, the reflection framework guide has frameworks for each record type that you can use as templates.
Yes. Even one line a day is enough. If you keep short notes or daily reports, drafts for weekly and monthly reports are generated automatically, so you do not need to spend a lot of time reflecting every time. Do not aim for perfection; you can always restart after a break.
Plans
Diary and daily report records, plus automatic weekly and monthly reports, are free. PDF export is a paid-plan feature.
